Can I Get Some Help Here?
I seem to be having trouble finding good music to put on my ‘Best of 2008 (1st half) playlist. When I did one in 2006, I was battling to keep it short. I’ve only managed 6 tracks so far for this year.
The Rules: Only one track from each artist, and the album has to have been released in 2008.

Russell T. Davies is a B*****d
There. I said it. RTD is a horrible little man who delights in torturing small children. And me.
And he’s a genius. Such sweet sorrow that he’s stepping down from Doctor Who and handing over lead writer and executive producer responsibilities to Steven Moffat (of ‘Blink’, ‘The Girl In The Fireplace’ and ‘Silence In The Library’ fame).
Oh, and one...

Guardian article by the vicar of Putney on why it is that music and readings with religious connotations are banned from civil wedding ceremonies - coming to the surprising finding that it’s the Catholics that are to blame.
The Fratellis - Here We Stand
I have listened to two songs so far and am declaring this album among the best of the year. For it not to make the top 5, there would have to be some seriously good music later on in the year.
It’s that time of year again - in the last month there’s been fantastic albums from The Ting Tings and The Zutons. Ting Tings has been my favourite album of the year until now, if the rest of...
Top This For A Speeding Ticket
The (possibly apocryphal) story of a speed trap that nearly went horribly wrong…
Two British traffic patrol officers from North Berwick were involved in an unusual incident, while checking for speeding motorists on the A-1 Great North Road . One of the officers (who are not named) used a hand-held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle approaching over the crest of a hill, and was...
