Fraction Calculator
As an extension of my C++ coursework, I ended up giving myself the challenge of actually writing a fully-fledged program which did something at least a tiny bit useful. To that end, the Fraction Calculator was born (Download Link)
A simple program, it allows you to add, multiply, subtract and divide fractions as you like. It also simplifies the answer to its reduced form, and presents improper...
Do one thing, every day, that scares you

The 1:30 blues
Having just completed a 2000 word report on A/D conversion, nearly half of which being taken up by a discussion of dither, the thing that I find mildly disturbing is that there are genuinely people out there in the world who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of the perfect pseudo-random noise signal - whether to use rectangular, triangular or gaussian probability density functions? Is it...
Defintion: Baby-Proofing
Baby-Proofing: | bābē-proōfing | verb.
The act of locating every item in a given space that is interesting, different or fun, and hiding it. The process is normally repeated until nothing fun remains in the room.
Except toys, of course. They’re just not as interesting as envelopes, CDs or plates
Sounds Saxy!
Saxophone quintet recorded for my Studio Techniques module. Very cool.

Number 1 the day I was born was The Power Of Love by Jennifer Rush
I find it interesting that in Australia, on the day I was born, number one in the charts was The Power Of Love by Huey Lewis & The News.
What are the chances?!
TubeSock - Save YouTube videos →
One click to download a YouTube video, convert it to an iPod-compatible H.264 MP4 file, and add it to iTunes. Shame it’s $15, really
Solution: Xvid + Subs --> H.264 MP4 →
I have been trying to find this for AGES. It’s from the iSquint forums and it’s a 3-Step method for creating an iPod-ready MP4 video from a .avi file with .srt subtitles, using a program called TitleLab to convert the subtitles.
Gonna try it out on Pan’s Labyrinth.
Tumblr Problems
It appears that Tumblr just lost all of the colour and theme settings for everyone’s Tumblelogs. Luckily, I had a screenshot of all of my colours, just in case I felt like mucking around with it again later, but that really sucked.
Incidentally, I’ve taken to posting messages using the tumblr dashboard widget. It’s very nice, but I’d prefer something more like the...
Oh dear
Just saw a shoeshop in Derby town centre called ‘Ruby Shoes-Day’.
Awful. Truly Awful
Apple Delays Leopard Till October. That Sucks.
Apple - Hot News
“iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price — we had to borrow some key software engineering and QA resources from our Mac OS X team, and as a result we will not be able to release Leopard at our Worldwide Developers Conference in early June as planned.”
Easter
We’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable few days at the farm - went down there for a weekend, ended up staying a full week! We’re back home now, and I’m building yet another website. This one is a wedding information site which will contain all the useful info pertaining to our forthcoming nuptials. I’ll put a link to it on here when it’s done, but it’ll be password...

8-Core Mac Pro. 8. Eight
Wow.
She Keeps Getting Bigger
Kayleigh climbed out of her cot this morning. The cot bars are about 4 foot high, so much unhappiness ensued.
We’re going to drop the side of the cot, so she won’t fall as far, and we’re going to get her a bed some time next week. We’re also putting in a stair-gate. Her room will also need a degree of baby-proofing, I think, following on from having put child locks on the...

Joost
I feel lucky, having received an invitation to download the Joost beta.
Pretty impressed so far, quality is okay, though even my 8Mb broadband connection, it seems, can’t quite keep up with the video. I’ve had to completely give up on one or two videos already because they just get stuck.
However, I’m currently watching Mohair playing their gig at the Koko. Life and End Of...
